Erik Erikson brings antiquated elements and techniques into the 21st century with his 'I Love Nantucket' Shadow Box. Erik uses resin to create his signature timeworn looking dominoes to frame the vignette. The middle anchor point of this piece is an antique postcard of an oil painting turned digital print. The heart, made out of several layers of acutely sized and cut cardboard shapes, is fashioned after old tramp art- an art form practiced throughout the world from the 19th century to mid 20th century. Small pieces of wood from found materials, mainly cigar boxes or shipping crates, were cut into layers of geometric shapes.
